2013 Schedule

Parelli Workshops

Practice the Parelli you love, with your favorite instructor while exploring Costa Rica on horseback.

All workshops are followed by a 6 day trek to the beach.

5* Instructor David Lichman will be teaching a 2 day workshop January 19th & 20th, 2013
David will not be joining the group on the trek.

My mission is to help you realize your dream of having a great relationship with your horse, no matter what activities or disciplines you participate in together.
Your dream horse is waiting for you inside the horse you already own.

4* Parelli Instructor Nita Jo Rush will be teaching a 2 day workshop February 6th & 7th, 2013.
The workshop will be followed by the 7 day “Wilderness” trek to the beach.

Join Nita Jo on this wonderful and educational adventure through Costa Rica.
Dates for the whole event are Feb 5th – 14th.

Come let me be your ”user-friendly” guide to new and deeper understandings of horses and Parelli, of horseplay and riding, of “love, language, and leadership.” Let ‘s go together on both the mind-bending horse-man-ship journey and the adventure of the trek. Come laugh, learn, and play as we escape winter!

4* Parelli Instructor Teri Sprague will be teaching a two day workshop March 2nd & 3rd, 2013. The workshop will be followed by a 6 day trek to the beach.

With over 30 years of horse experience she teaches clinics, workshops, and other events around the United States using a creative, informative, and fun approach to Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship that emphasizes imagination, affirmation, and progress.

Click to view slideshow.When the rainy season started early this April we were worried that we would have bad weather for the trek. We were pleasantly surprised. We had very little rain and the clouds and the breezes helped to keep us and the horses cool. We took in spectacular views when we explored a new trail through Marvin Morales’s farm. We trotted and cantered in the low land hills and along the beach. The chocolate farm, the rain forest hike to the waterfall and the zip line were fun added attractions.

On Easter Sunday we set up an obstacle course in the Arena. Volunteers and guests from Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Australia, and the USA took part in the event. Here are some the pictures from the day. Click to view slideshow.The “DJ” played each contestant’s “theme song” and provided “insightful” commentary. We had to pick up a ball, mount and dismount, put on a shirt over your head and take it off, walk backwards, go over a tarp, slalom and circle barrels and finally go over a jump for the big finish.

Kerri April Trek to the Beach

She was a great help to all her students (including us and our horses) along the way. It was a very special trip with many of the riders over 60 and one rider over 70! What a great group, so adventurous and positive through out the whole ride. Some very special momments were shared and the group was bonded and united. It made us feel great that we could provide the setting for these connections. Thank you everyone for sharing, learning, and caring.

The Cabalgata in Acosta

March is the middle of what Costa Ricans consider their summer. The days are hot and dry. All through out the country side the rural towns hold a fund raising event they call “Cabalgatas”. These are group trail rides that travel through private farms with a stop midway for a music and dancing and a party dinner and a raffle at the end of the ride.

On March 4th, our season’s volunteers, Elston (texas) and Lara (Germany), this month’s intern, Nicole (Holland), and our riding guest Cheryl (Arkansas), myself and my Costa Rican neighbor and riding friend, Rafa, rode two hours to the town of Acosta. February Trek to the Beach

Click to view slideshow. In the first week of February we ran a trek to the beach with the 5 white horses. Joining us were folks from Idaho and Toronto. Every one enjoyed each others company, the horses, the scenery, and the locals we met along the way.

We are currently scheduling treks for April, June, July and August. Please contact us for more details.

David Lichman’s January Workshop and Trek

Click to view slideshow.David’s 5th time back with us was just as much fun as ever. David came to the farm the day before the trek to help us with choosing our horses and our “preflight checks”. The trek took us through the beautiful Costa Rican country side. We stayed with local families along the way, swam in rivers (with the horses too!), visited a chocolate farm, soared through the air on a zipline (not with the horses), cantered on the beach and swam with the horses in the ocean. We met David at the beach for two more days of workshop.

We learned to use the porcupine game in lots of new ways, how to use “scan and capture” as a training technique, we played at liberty and learned the boomerang game, we practiced our carrot stick riding and had fun synchronizing to music and much much more.

Thank you David for a great workshop. You are an awesome and FUN teacher!!!! And thank you to the trekers who made the trip a great one!!

Come spend time with TWO 3-Star Licensed Parelli Professionals for an intensive, educational and fun filled weekend at Barking Horse Farm in Costa Rica! The farm offers a 7 day, 6 night trek from the mountains to the sea and the two days prior will be filled with clinic style teaching from Maurice and Susan. We will have two instructors and two groups of people learning at the same time. Throughout the weekend, the clinic will have dynamic sessions on improving your on-line and riding skills, regardless of what level you are playing with. Plus, we will be having theory and simulation sessions to really make it a complete experience for all in attendance. There will be 12 hours of play and learning time over these two days…plus the bonus of having two instructors for the entire weekend! After the workshop ride out with Susan and Maurice on an adventure through rural Costa Rica. Practice the Parelli you love with beautiful, well cared for, Parelli trained horses, while exploring one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Space is limited so don’t miss out!
